Callum Peters has cemented himself as a star on the rise with a brutal TKO of Blake Wells to claim the IBF Pan Pacific middleweight title on the Nikita Tszyu-Ben Mahoney undercard.
The 2024 Olympian’s unorthodox style was too much for the world No. 15, with a series of devastating body blows leaving Wells bruised and beaten across eight punishing rounds, with the Victorian doing well to remain standing.

The onslaught began in the first round, with commentator Ben Damon describing the carnage as “all out war” as the pair exchanged heavy blows.
But it didn’t take long for Peters to take the fight by the throat, with repeated blows to the liver across the second, third and fourth rounds leaving Wells struggling to stay on his feet.

“He’s being cut in half here,” Damon said.
“That is sickening stuff.”
“I’m glad Callum Peters wasn’t around in my weight division. He is a nightmare,” boxing legend Danny Green added.
“I dare say he’s (Wells) broken a rib or two.
“He’s done some damage.”

Peters, in contrast, was barely breaking a sweat.
“He’s not even puffing, Ben. It’s crazy!” Green laughed as Peters began the seventh round with yet more punishment.
“Wells has really impressed me with his toughness.”
Wells, remarkably, even landed a left hook to Peters’ head midway through the eighth round, before another brutal assault saw the referee at last call a halt.

“What a warrior he is,” Damon said.
“You’re an absolute demon,” Green said of Peters.
“And Callum Peters – wowee. This kid is going somewhere.”
Commentator Corbin Middlemas had similarly high praise.
“Holy smokes Callum Peters is the truth,” he wrote on X.
“Biggest blue chip prospect in Australian boxing.”
For 50 Cal, the next challenge is obvious.
“He just kept taking them – oh my god!” he said of Wells.
