South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is in doubt for the much-anticipated ICC World Test Championship series against Australia.
Rabada picked up a hamstring injury while training with his domestic side, Lions in August.
In a statement, Cricket South Africa (CSA) stated that Rabada was all set to miss the Australia ODIs at home, and was in a race to be fit for the Test series.
“Kagiso Rabada is currently progressing through the early stages of his rehabilitation from a right hamstring injury under the close supervision of the Cricket South Africa medical team,” CSA was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.
“He will miss the three-match One-Day International series against Australia, scheduled from 24-30 September. His availability for the three-match Test series against Australia will depend on how he progresses through his rehabilitation, with a decision on his selection to be made closer to the series.”
Rabada’s absence leaves a huge void in the South Africa side as they prepare to meet the team they defeated in the last WTC Final.
