A man has been found dead after an argument broke out in a home in a quiet street in Melbourne’s east.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was found inside a home on Penhyrn Ave in Croydon about 2.10am on Monday.

Police were called to the scene after reports of a dispute.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to hospital under police guard with non-life-threatening injuries.

“It is believed the parties are known to one another,” a police statement read.

No charges have been laid.

Homicide detectives have established a crime scene and are investigating the man’s death.
