Three weeks ago, Gold Coast property manager Jacinta Rogers was a gym-going mum of four. Today, she is fighting for her life after being handed a terminal cancer diagnosis.

The 46-year-old’s world collapsed in a matter of days after what started as minor bloating escalated into excruciating stomach pain.

She was rushed to hospital by ambulance on Monday night. By Friday, she had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of inoperable ovarian cancer.

“It came as quite a shock to go from nothing to Stage 4. It is actually next-level how fast this has all moved,” Ms Rogers, of Benowa, said.

Even with intensive chemotherapy, doctors have given her just a 10 to 15 per cent chance of surviving five years, with an 85 per cent of the cancer returning within 3 years. To save her life, Ms Rogers is desperately researching alternative treatments overseas.

“If I stay in Australia, I am doomed,” she said. “It’s morbid, but I’m doomed.”

Ms Rogers received the harrowing news over the phone while with her two youngest children, Reine, 8, and Myah, 6, who still believe their mum is just going to hospital for “some medicine that might make me sick.”

Her supportive new partner, Matt, alongside her two eldest children, Brit, 26, and Blake, 23, have been forced to confront the tragic prospect of a future without her.

Brit has launched a GoFundMe campaign which has so far raised $62,271 towards her mother’s life-saving treatment.

“She is the person who puts everyone else first, who walks into a room and never fails to light it up,” Brit wrote.

“Reine and Myah still need their mum for so much of the life that is ahead of them…We are not ready to imagine a world without her.”

But Ms Rogers is not fighting alone, with her women’s AFL teammates and the tight-knit local real estate industry rallying behind her.

Sarah Davari, her colleague at One Agency Burleigh-Miami, is hosting a touching fundraiser, Canapés for a Cause, at Burleigh Heads’ Mondrian this Wednesday.

The event will include canapés and a drink on arrival at the Lagoon Cabanas, along with raffles and special prizes.

“Jacinta has always been someone who brings warmth, kindness and connection to those around her,” Ms Davari said.

“This is a chance for us to come together and remind her she is surrounded by love and support.”

For Ms Rogers, the outpouring of love has been overwhelming.

“To be honest, the thing that has made me the most emotional over everything is how kind everyone has been,” she said.

“I moved to the Gold Coast 13 years ago not knowing a single person, so it just feels so overwhelming, but so beautiful, to have such a village of support around me.”
