The former UFC welterweight star and reigning BKFC King of Violence champion suggested that he’ll make a triumphant comeback, whilst also advising others to prioritize their health.

Mike Perry was originally booked to take on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu maestro and fellow American combat sports staple, Dillon Danis. The Perry vs. Danis welterweight MMA matchup was to serve as the headlining match of online sportsbook and casino DuelBet’s inaugural combat sports event, namely Duel Arena 1.
Nevertheless, Danis withdrew from the event, revealing he’d suffered an arm injury. The fight-week pullout caused a highly publicized rift between “El Jefe” and the Duel Arena organization, who exchanged insults via their official social media handles. Meanwhile, former UFC, PFL, and MVP MMA fighter Brandon Jenkins stepped in on short notice to face Perry in the main event matchup.
Their catchweight showdown headlined Duel Arena 1 at the Kia Center in Orlando on August 29. After a few high-octane striking exchanges and aggressive clinch sequences, Perry appeared to be afflicted by an injury to his left shoulder. “The Human Highlight Reel” capitalized with body kicks and follow-up ground strikes to stop the combat sports superstar via first-round TKO.
With the hybrid combat sports event, which also featured boxing and kickboxing matches, all said and done, Mike Perry has now released a statement addressing his injury and loss.
The 34-year-old seemingly adopted a resilient approach in the face of the chaos and advised netizens to focus on self-care and holistic well-being. Taking to X, Perry wrote:

UFC and BKFC veteran Mike Perry’s shoulder injury may have delayed a few high-profile potential fights
Leading up to Duel Arena 1, Mike Perry had hinted at potential major fights on the horizon that he’d eventually open up about after the Brandon Jenkins matchup.
Speaking to Mike Heck of MMA Fighting, Perry had said, “We got some big news last night that I cannot give… With a successful night tomorrow, we are looking at some huge news in combat sports history.”
Speculation abounded that Perry was referring to a possible MMA rematch against Nate Diaz, or an imminent bare-knuckle boxing encounter against longtime rival Darren Till, who faces Yoel Romero at BKFC 94 Manchester on September 26. Many were already expecting Perry to fight Till inside the BKFC’s famed Squared Circle after the latter’s clash against Romero.
However, Perry’s shoulder injury is likely to delay the possible fights against his fellow fight game icons. Furthermore, Brandon Jenkins has called out Nate Diaz next, whereas Dillon Danis would be eyeing a speedy recovery ahead of his return to freestyle wrestling against Arman Tsarukyan at RAF 14 on October 23.
