Born in Yokohama in 1954, Kuma founded Kengo Kuma & Associates in Tokyo in 1990 and opened its Paris office in 2008.
His projects have explored everything from timber and stone to light, screens, and porous building envelopes, often blurring the boundary between architecture and landscape.
