The high school golf season moves swiftly, and the DeForest Norskies girls’ golf team is no exception.
Entering September, the Norskies have already participated in over five invitationals/meets this season.
This past week, DeForest hosted a two-player, four-ball dual meet against last year’s state champion, Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA), on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Lake Windsor Country Club.
It was a battle of state-ranked foes.
According to the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) Division 1 team state rankings, DSHA is ranked No. 1 in the state. DeForest isn’t too far behind, slotting in at No. 6.
Leading the way on Tuesday was the Norskies’ two-player duo of seniors Abigail Henriksen and Anabelle Stravinski, who scored a 65.
Seniors Brinley Goninen and Addy Heuer chipped in with a 78, while the freshman duo of Jayden Tibbitts and Aaliyah Crum scored an 86.
On Monday, Aug. 31, the Norskies continued onward, opening conference play at a Badger-Large Mini Meet at the Baraboo Country Club.
DeForest won the meet convincingly, securing a team score of 323. Waunakee, which finished in second place, was 23 strokes behind the Norskies.
Paving the way for DeForest was Abigail Henriksen. The senior Wisconsin Badgers commit shot a team-best 68.
Meanwhile, Brinley Goninen — a UW-Green Bay golf commit — shot an 80, while Aaliyah Crum shot an 86. Anabelle Stravinski rounded out the scoring for DeForest with an 89. Addy Heuer’s 91 was not scored.

Up next for DeForest, the Norskies will head to their second conference Mini Meet at the Watertown Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 3 at noon, before taking on a multi-team invitational at the Pleasant View Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Middleton at 9:30 a.m.
