Donald Trump has doubled down on his criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this time referencing the feud between the Duke of Sussex and his brother Prince William.
The US president, 80, made his feelings clear about the couple with a blistering eight-word statement during an interview with GB News this week, saying: “I would have never spoken to [Harry] again.”
Trump made headlines on Wednesday when he told reporters in the Oval Office that he was “happy” that the Sussexes had decided to leave their home in California and move over the pond to the United Kingdom.
He also claimed the couple treated the Royal Family with “great disrespect” and that he “wouldn’t have taken them back”, while also taking aim at Meghan, 45, saying he “didn’t like the way she acted”.
Speaking with GB News 24 hours later, Trump weighed in on the estrangement between the Sussexes and the Waleses , criticising Prince Harry, 41, for all the “terrible” things he wrote in his 2023 memoir Spare.
“He [Prince Harry] wrote a book that was so bad, and she [Meghan] was a horrible influence on him. What she’s done to him is unacceptable.
“I think that what she [Meghan] has done and him [Prince Harry], he wrote a book that was very terrible to William, 44, it was terrible.
“The things he said, I wouldn’t… I mean, it’s just me. I’m sure I’m wrong on this, but I would not have taken him back. I would have never spoken to him again.”
In the biography, Prince Harry detailed a physical altercation between him and his brother in 2019, which resulted in the Duke being knocked to the floor.
He also claimed that William pretended not to know him when they attended Eton College before dubbing the heir to the throne his “beloved brother and arch nemesis”.
Following the publication of Prince Harry’s memoir, the royal became largely estranged from his family.
However, just last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as their two children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, reunited with King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 79, at Highgrove House, marking their first family meeting with the Monarch in over four years.
When asked about the much-talked-about reunion between Harry and his father, Trump praised the King for doing what he himself could not.
“It shows you what a good man King Charles is. He’s a much better person than I am. I wouldn’t have done it. I would have said forget it”
Trump went on: “He’s been a friend of mine for a long time. I knew him as Prince Charles, I know him as King Charles, and he’s amazing and he’s fighting through a very tough situation with his health, and very few people would have that bravery to do what he’s done.”
The Sussexes touched down at Birmingham Airport last Wednesday, embarking on a new life in the UK for an “extended period” after living in Montecito, California, for six years.
While not much is known of the Sussexes’ UK move, they are believed to be basing themselves in the Cotswolds and staying with a celebrity friend while they look for a more permanent home.
They have also enrolled both of their kids in a local school.
