“We’re in Tallahassee, Florida and just at the Goat Farm,” offered Webb on Friday afternoon. “We actually just finished up our day and I’m doing a little rehab right now. We’re full SMX and getting ready for the Playoffs. We just finished the AMA Pro Motocross Championship series and now we’re straight into the next one, which is the SMX Playoffs.”
With the entire roster of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing riders putting in the work and doing the heavy lifting down in sun scorched Tallahassee, Webb believes the team is all-in and everyone involved pushes one another to optimum levels.
“Yeah man, it’s definitely a lot of guys here and we’re always racing against each other and it’s like a scrimmage,” described the 30-year-old. “It’s really cool, though. They have a great facility here and a lot of tracks and we have the shop and the mechanics and everything here, so that makes it a one stop shop.”
And truth be told, Cooper Webb absolutely enjoys putting in all the work along the way
“Oh yeah. It’s my favorite part of it all,” he declared resolutely. “I love the preparation. Yeah, we’ve been putting in a lot of work. It’s been a long year and that’s where the fitness is important to keep. I think we’re in a really good spot right now. Putting in the work don’t scare me at all.”
Because you just can’t fake it in the fiercely competitive and survival of the fitness crucial of AMA Pro Motocross.
“No, no doubt,” said Webb. “It takes a lot to get to the top and there is definitely no shortcuts, that’s for sure. Yep, and that’s something that I’ve always been able to do.”
Saying goodbye to all on the way out, the Ironman season finale and the podium finish that came along with it was, well in Webb’s words, a “dream ending” to his 13-year natural terrain motocross career.
