Montpellier Herault Rugby and Section Paloise won’t get much time to ease into the 2026-27 Top 14 season. Round 1 immediately brings together two of last season’s top teams at Septeo Stadium on Sept. 5.
Montpellier finished second in the 2025-26 regular season before advancing all the way to the Top 14 final, where Toulouse won 28-20.
Pau also broke through with a historic season, earning a place in the postseason after finishing fourth in the regular-season standings.
The matchup is also a quick rematch. Montpellier defeated Pau 26-18 at home on May 30 in Round 25 last season.
Now Pau gets an early opportunity to answer, while Montpellier begins its attempt to turn last season’s run to the championship match into another title challenge.
