Even when Arizona was operating at full-strength, it was giving goal-line work to Allgeier. Which should surprise no one. The 5’10”, 225-pounder is such a short-yardage asset that he managed to 15 rushing scores over the past three seasons despite sharing a backfield with Bijan Robinson.
After moving to Arizona, Allgeier’s competition for carries are now rookie Jeremiyah Love, who is working his way back from a high ankle sprain, and veteran James Conner, who landed on injured reserve with a foot ailment.
Given Allgeier’s handcuff appeal, he probably should’ve been more rostered already, especially once the Cardinals tipped their goal-line plans for him.
But with question marks about Love’s availability, Allgeier feels like a must-roster in all but the shallowest leagues.
