The free event is open to people aged 12 to 24 years and is designed to be a fun, welcoming come-and-try session where no experience is needed.
Led by the expert coaches from Goulburn Valley Gangarru Parasports, the event will be inclusive and activities will be adapted to ensure that everyone is able to participate.
During the event, Omnia Community Health will host Power UP!, a fuelling station with tasty snacks to boost the players’ energy pre-game and help them recover afterwards.
Seymour Rotary Club will be providing a free barbecue lunch.
Following the come-and-try session, everyone is invited to stay for an action-packed showcase game as the Goorbils take on visitors Greater Shepparton All Abilities team.
Event organiser Lisa Richards, from Omnia Community Health, says the day promises to be a celebration of inclusive sport.
“Expect big energy, great teamwork and plenty of courtside hype as we celebrate all-abilities sport, our local community and the joy of playing basketball together,” Ms Richards said.
The basketball fun day will take place on Thursday, October 1 between 11am and 2.30pm at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre on Pollard St.
