The Anaheim Ducks will place Chris Kreider on waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the decision. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity so they could speak candidly about an internal roster decision that has not yet been finalized.

The move has been mutually agreed on by both Kreider and the Ducks, according to the sources. Once the transaction is complete, the 35-year-old forward will be an unrestricted free agent.
