Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has backtracked on his announcement that he will no longer be signing autographs in public due to security concerns.
The Aussie musician, 40, who is currently on tour in the US, issued an apology to his Instagram stories on Thursday revealing he absolutely does “love meeting fans” – but fans aren’t the problem.

“Felt like expanding on that note from yesterday,” began the two-time Grammy winner. “I LOVE meeting fans and am almost always happy to take photos and sign stuff.”
He explained the problem was to do with autograph hounds who “use bizarre tactics to trick you into thinking they are fans (you should hear some of the shit they come up with, fake back stories etc etc).”
“Remember it’s just so they can throw it on eBay as soon as they have your autograph,” he continued.
The Dracula hit maker said that sometimes it’s hard to tell the real fans from the “eBayers” so the smartest thing is to say hotels, airports and outside venues are “off limits” for autographs.
“The absolute opposite thing I would want from this is for fans to think I don’t want to meet them/take photos etc,” he clarified.
“I love them and will ALWAYS be grateful for their love.”
Earlier in the week, the 13-time ARIA winner told fans to “please don’t be offended” as he explained the initial ban on fan meet and greets, which he has now clarified only extends to the mentioned zones.
“Hey guys … Due to the rise of aggressive autograph hounds I won’t be signing anything or doing photos out the front of hotels or at airports at all anymore”, Parker began in a series of Instagram stories.

The band’s frontman spoke of the “aggressive” lengths professional autograph collectors would go to, adding “they’ve started using kids which I think is all kinds of wrong”.
“So if you happen to catch me please don’t be offended if I say no,” said the Elephant singer.
In a follow-up post, Parker said he was advised by his security team to no longer stop outside concert venues either.

“I won’t be coming out after shows to meet fans in the parking lot for the time being,” he wrote.
Parker revealed he was doing meet and greets for a while in Europe.
“But the numbers were getting out of control and we don’t have the security to manage it,” he revealed.

Parker signed off by telling fans to stay safe and have the “best time” at the shows.
Tame Impala’s Deadbeat Tour, which kicked off in October 2025, will continue in North America until September 20, before heading to Australia and Europe next year.
The singer’s hit song Dracula in collaboration with Blackpink’s Jennie was voted number three in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2025.
