‘Maareesan’ drops second single as Fahadh Faasil–Vadivelu starrer nears release | Onmanorama

The makers of the much-awaited travel thriller ‘Maareesan’, starring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu and directed by Sudeesh Shankar, have released its second single, ‘Maareesa’. Composed and sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja with lyrics by Sabarivasan Shanmugam, the song is a breezy, light-hearted take on handling life, accompanied by animated visuals of the lead characters.
‘Maareesan’ has been creating a buzz as it marks the second collaboration between Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu after Mari Selvaraj’s acclaimed hit ‘Maamannan’. It also carries the weight of legacy, being the 98th production of Super Good Films, a banner known for backing quality cinema and introducing some of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated directors.
A recently released trailer has only heightened the excitement. It reveals Fahadh as a thief on the lookout for his next victim. He notices Vadivelu, an Alzheimer’s patient, withdrawing a large sum of cash. Determined to steal it, he offers to give Vadivelu a ride on his motorcycle to Thiruvannamalai. As their journey unfolds, circumstances change in unexpected ways, forming the crux of the film. (Mareesan or Mareecha is the character from the epic Ramayana who takes the form of a golden deer to lure Goddess Sita into a trap.)
Along with Fahadh and Vadivelu, the cast includes Vivek Prasanna, Renuka, Sithara and others. V. Krishnamurthi has written the story, screenplay and dialogues while also serving as creative director. Cinematography is by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, editing by Sreejith Sarang and art direction by Mahendran. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music promises to be another highlight.
‘Maareesan’ is set to hit theatres on July 25, and with every new glimpse, anticipation only grows stronger.
