AFTER his longest wait between Supercars races in 20 years, Will Davison returns to the field with a golden chance to add to his victory tally.
Davison is teaming up with Grove Racing’s Matt Payne for the Ryco Enduro Cup, starting with this weekend’s AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
Payne and the #19 Penrite Mustang have been the benchmark for much of 2026, and it’s a reinvigorated Davison who now joins the party.
“To watch the way they’re working and the way they’re succeeding with Matt and Jack (Bell, engineer) and the whole team, it has been quite eye-opening and impressive,” he told V8 Sleuth.
“They have been so professional in integrating me and welcoming me to the team.
“I still feel quite sharp… I won’t lie, I was wondering how quick it would come back to me, but it all was quite quick.
“I’m really enjoying the team; the car is very different to what I’m used to and I can certainly feel its strengths. It’s a beautiful car… Matt is such an impressive young guy.
“Pressure is on but pressure is great and a privilege. I’m enjoying it, I’m really excited that it’s this time of the year.”
Davison added of Grove Racing: “It’s honestly the best camaraderie, the best environment I’ve ever seen.”

The 44-year-old is coming off a difficult final full-time season at Dick Johnson Racing.
“I had to come to terms with it last year and that’s life, we move on, so I’m embracing the new role,” said Davison.
“I’ve got plenty of other things keeping me busy in life.
“I don’t have a point to prove, I don’t have unfinished business. I have got a job to do and still feel actually really good behind the wheel.”
Davison’s second and most recent Bathurst 1000 win came a decade ago, coincidentally also in #19.
