RC Toulonnais returns to Stade Mayol searching for its first victory of the 2026-27 Top 14 season, but standing in its way is a Stade Rochelais squad fresh off one of the biggest comebacks of Round 1.
Toulon came agonizingly close to opening the season with a road victory, falling 27-26 to Bayonne and leaving with a defensive bonus point. La Rochelle’s opener delivered considerably more drama. Stade Rochelais trailed defending champion Toulouse 24-10 at halftime before storming back for a 30-27 victory, with Antoine Hastoy kicking the winning penalty in the 80th minute.
Toulon gets an important reinforcement for its home opener as Lewis Ludlam returns to the Starting XV at flanker. Baptiste Serin starts at scrum-half, while Gaël Fickou and Huw Jones form the center pairing and Melvyn Jaminet starts at fullback.
La Rochelle is without Nolann Le Garrec, with Valentin Bouju taking over at scrum-half alongside Hastoy. Grégory Alldritt is among the Stade Rochelais replacements.
