A year or so ago, Jonathan Kuminga had a chance to sign a $75.2 million deal with the Golden State Warriors.
However, the young forward demanded a move away from the Bay Area as he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. As a result, many expected Kuminga to get his money this summer.
But Kuminga surprised fans with the decision to sign a two-year, $12.4 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In light of the NBA finding the LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard guilty of salary cap circumvention, every new signing in the league has been under the microscope.
Keeping that in mind, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently expressed major doubts over Kuminga taking such a massive pay cut to sign with the Timberwolves.
“Every year that you don’t take the deal that you originally had took, that money would have been in your f______ pocket already,” Arenas said.
He added, “Tell them to look at everybody’s writing. Look at your contract. Someone has to be getting paid somewhere. Check your family members.
“Someone is getting you paid to look the other way. Because there’s no f______ way that you should have been signing these b_______ deals.”

While Kuminga has officially stated that he joined the Timberwolves to be a part of a ‘winning culture,’ critics have their doubts.
After all, the Timberwolves have never won an NBA Championship, and to take such a massive pay cut at this stage in his career could make or break Kuminga’s career.
