The Detroit Pistons didn’t find a capable secondary creator over the offseason, but they surrounded Cade Cunningham with shooting.

Isaiah Joe, John Collins, Taurean Prince and Gary Harris were all above 40.0 percent from deep last season and should keep the floor spaced for Detroit’s superstar. They won’t, however, lighten the playmaking load. Add those two expectations together, and the result might be a higher-scoring version of Cunningham who is perfectly positioned to get more of his own buckets than ever.

Cunningham ranked fifth in drives per game last year, but generated the fewest free-throw attempts and shot the worst percentage in those situations of anyone else in the top five. Better spacing should widen his avenues of attack, creating more chances to finish at the rim or draw a foul.

Cunningham’s previous career high is 26.1 points per game, set in 2024-25. He’s going to top that with ease.
