So he was naturally everywhere during the week that was when the NFL came to town for a spectacular match at the MCG on Friday.
According to Billy Brownless, however, the former St Kilda captain was a big inserter.
In a humorous rant there was no holding back and even Ben Graham copped a spray.
“There it was, unbelievable, watching it all week,’’ Brownless said on the Triple M Saturday Rub.
“It looked magnificent on the TV, well done to the state government, we don’t give them a lot of credit at times, that was the best $15m (spent).
“But just got a couple of questions, what team in the NFL did Nick Riewoldt play for?
“Did he play for Dallas, or the Titans or the Phillies or the Texans.
“Did he win a Super Bowl or an MVP? I want to know what he won. Because all I saw was he was on everything. He was hosting one minute, then he’s on the ground, then he’s on a panel, on the TV, on the radio and I opened my bloody fridge at one stage and there’s Rooey.
“Fairdinkum he was everywhere. Come on Rooey. Then following Jerry Rice around like a puppy dog. It was unbelievable. So I just want to know who he played for and don’t start me on Ben Graham either. Ben Graham brought the game out here, he produced it, he hosted it and then he edited it. He did everything.”
Brownless himself wasn’t immune from a drive by with one of the American guests stunned by the “circumference” of his head.
Riewoldt hit back on his show Mick In the Morning on Monday: “I mean James Brayshaw he comments on Australian games in the cricket, pretty sure he hasn’t played for Australia did he? Like he tried. If Billy saw me every time he opened the fridge he would have seen me a lot.”
Kane Cornes busted sneaking onto the ground during Melbourne NFL match
Kane Cornes was part of the broadcast with Seven and was one of the lucky people to get on the ground at the MCG.
He’s loving life and then decides to give it a go to get on while the game is on despite his pass only saying pre-game.
“We’ve done the sidelines stuff, Xander dominated, had some great guests,’’ he said on Fireball.
“Then I’m done, pre-game only. I thought this is great I can relax. I’ve got an on-ground pass… I thought I can do better… they’re not going to know.
“But my pass only allowed me pre-game but I thought I’m going to test the boundaries. I’ve got through the first line of security and I’m onto the ground.
“I’m trying to sneak on the ground here and I’ve got on and kick-off has happened and I’m standing right on the sideline with basically the Rams team and this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Taking videos, selfies, I’m on the ground watching.
“Then this guy comes over to me and says in an American accent, he says ‘excuse me sir where is your wristband?’ (I go) I’m with the broadcast they’re crossing down to me in a minute.”
The security checks his pass and he’s been busted.
“Not only did he say you have to go but he said you have to go right now. To the nearest exit and I’m certain someone would have got a video of this,’’ a sheepish Cornes said.
