Xavier Willison has opened up on his future at the Broncos revealing he wants to stay at the club long-term.

It comes after the towering forward was linked last week to a move to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Willison, who is free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1, revealed he is in the process of changing his management with AAP reporting the 24-year-old has been in discussion with Ahmad Merhi. Merhi manages Payne Haas and orchestrated his bombshell move to the Rabbitohs.

Willison, who stunned Haas to take out the Paul Morgan Medal winner for Brisbane’s player of the year at the Broncos’ end-of-season awards on Monday night, said a decision on his future was coming soon.

“I am happy to wait,” he said.

“My daughter was born in Brisbane so I would love to stay here and I would love to build my family here.

“The culture between the boys and the staff … we have some of the best connection.

“The people that have won (the Paul Morgan Medal) in the past have been Broncos greats and I have always aspired to be one. It is a huge honour.

“I was looking on the trophy and all I can see is Payne Haas. What he has done for the club is so special. It was so good to learn off him.”

Willison also won the Shane Webcke Award as the club’s best forward while Deine Mariner collected the Allan Langer Award (Best back).

The retiring Corey Jensen picked up the Broncos’ Club Person of the Year. Jensen had his playing career cruelly cut short this year due to blood clots.
