Westpac has told investors that artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how its customers and employees interact with the bank, and sees little chance this will slow down as the cost of using the tools continues to fall.
In a strategy briefing held just days after Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei called for a “worldwide pacing of the frontier” of AI to avoid serious risk, Westpac said more than 95 per cent of its 35,000 employees used the tools at least monthly, up from 69 per cent at the start of the year.
