Australian entrepreneur Joshua Payne could make close to $500 million from the New York listing of Nscale if the data centre developer whose customers include Anthropic and Microsoft meets ambitious expansion goals as it heads towards a multi-billion dollar float.
The 32-year-old, who was born in Newcastle and was named in Time magazine’s 2026 list of the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence, has been running Nscale for just over two years after spinning it off from bitcoin miner Arkon Energy.
