With the recent release of iOS 27 and the long-awaited Siri AI, Apple has updated its support documentation on the storage space requirements that the artificial intelligence features need on your device.
According to Apple, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air require up to 14GB of on-device storage for Apple Intelligence.
For other compatible iPhone models, Apple says the AI features require up to 8GB of storage.
The difference comes down to two of the more advanced Siri AI capabilities introduced with iOS 27: more expressive Siri voices, which let users adjust the assistant’s expressiveness and speaking pace, and an improved dictation system with greater accuracy.
For users with smaller-capacity iPhones, the extra storage requirement could be something worth keeping in mind. Apple Intelligence may be free as a software feature, but there’s a cost involved: it takes up storage space.
