LEADING Supercars squad Walkinshaw TWG Racing is looking far and wide for an apt successor to outgoing team principal Carl Faux.
Having come onboard in late 2017 after carving out a successful career in his native England, Faux has just one race left with the Walkinshaw organisation: next month’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
Thereafter he’ll move onto a new to-be-announced challenge, with the knowledge that the Toyota Supercar project he helped spearhead has been an overwhelming success.
The Gen3 Supra has won four races thus far this year, including the most recent Bend 500 via Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard.
That came only after an extensive mission to deliver an engine upgrade aimed at bolstering reliability, something which will be tested evenly more sternly across 161 laps around Mount Panorama.
Eleven weeks since Faux’s impending departure was publicised, Walkinshaw TWG remains yet to name a successor.
“Carl is a unicorn. You can’t replace Carl, he’s one of a kind,” the team’s CEO Bruce Stewart told V8 Sleuth.
“He’s a unique, incredibly intelligent individual. So if we go out to try to replace Carl, you can’t find one.
“So in that respect, we’re working through options of how we can fill the void that he will leave.”

Among the options being explored is to search abroad.
“We’re an international team, with our owners. We want to get the best people,” said Stewart.
“Carl will be a big void for us to fill. We’ve had a lot of conversations and we’ve looked far and wide, and hopefully around Bathurst we’ll be able to talk some more.”
The team’s three directors are all based overseas: Ryan Walkinshaw (Monaco), Dan Towriss (USA), and Scott O’Donnell (New Zealand).
Others in the WTWG hierarchy include technical director Terry Kerr, who replaced Faux in that post when the latter was promoted to team principal at the end of 2023 (and likewise Stewart to CEO).
