CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Tourism in Northern Mindanao (DOT-10) on Thursday launched a golf tournament that hopes to establish tourism and economic linkages.
In a briefing, DOT-10 Marie Elaine Unchuan said the “Limitless Adventure Cup” is in partnership with Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club.
“Golfers usually compete in groups, and they spend no less than PHP5,000 a day on hotels and restaurants,” she said.
Unchuan said the tournament brings together golfers and showcases Northern Mindanao as a destination for quality golf and sporting events.
The tournament runs from Sept. 24 to 26 in this city.
On its first day, 50 golfers from various parts of Mindanao arrived in the city for the tournament.
No cash prizes await the tournament winners, only trophies.
Meanwhile, city government officials here are supporting the event, led by the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office.
City Tourism Officer Mark Kenneth Jalapadan said City Hall supports golf tourism as the city continues to emerge as a growing sports and leisure destination. (PNA)
