The Rainbow Wahine officially begin the Khalilah Mitchell era.
Mitchell, a long time assistant with the team, took over the program from long time head coach Laura Beeman.
Coach K wasting no time installing her face-paced system, a blend of her playing days at LSU and what she learned from Beeman.
“It’s a style that I’m familiar with I played at LSU and I wanted to bridge that gap between what my experience as a player, what I’ve learned from Coach B, and what the roster, the personnel that we have,” Coach Mitchell said. “So blending all of that makes it very transition forward and it also makes it very focused on what their strengths are, so that’s the beauty of this offense.”
The squad working on conditioning for the new tempo with only 12 players on the roster.
“I think it’s great for the girls, I mean, more reps for everyone in training, it’s more court time for everyone, you know, during the games,” Guard Bailey Flavell said. “I think, you know, it’s a great group of girls, so, yeah, I’m really excited.”
The Rainbow Wahine schedule is yet to be released.
