The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team has added another star to its 2027 recruiting class.
Four-star point guard Joshua Tyson announced Sept. 25, 2026, that he is committing to the University of Cincinnati.
The Bearcats head coach Jerrod Calhoun adds more local talent to his roster with Tyson, who is ranked 42nd in the country.
The final decision for Tyson came down to the Bearcats and their crosstown rival, the Xavier University Musketeers. Tyson ultimately committed to Cincinnati.
The 6-foot-1 guard began his career at Lakota West High School just north of Cincinnati in West Chester, Ohio.
Tyson started 25 games last season for the Lakota West Firebirds, averaging 16.3 points, 3.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game during the team’s 24-2 season.
Tyson has now taken his talents to La Lumiere high school in Indiana for his senior season. He will soon join shooting guard Kameron Mercer, another local four-star talent out of Princeton high school who committed to UC earlier this year.
The announcement moves the Bearcats class up to the 32nd ranked recruiting class in the nation, according to 247sports.com.
