In Australia, ABC News Australia has published the weekly Spicks and Specks music quiz with ten questions about performers, albums, songs and music industry terms. Participants are invited to test their music knowledge, from The Beatles and Lady Gaga to Australian artists.
Songs and performers
Among the tasks are questions about a song by the band Skyhooks, the first vocalist of Australian folk group The Seekers, and a song encoded in a sequence of emoji. Separate questions concern The Beatles song When I’m 64 and Lady Gaga’s 2009 album The Fame Monster.
The quiz also asks in which year Kasey Chambers won an ARIA Award in the Album of the Year category for Barricades & Brickwalls. To answer this question, participants need to select a year using a slider.

Albums and the music industry
Other tasks are devoted to the song at the beginning of the musical Oliver!, the band that initially planned to call itself Rat Salade, and the cover of one of Tame Impala’s albums. The final question explains the meaning of the abbreviation A&R in the music industry.
Most tasks require choosing one of several answer options. ABC also invites those interested to watch Spicks and Specks on the ABC iview platform.
