TONY Quinn says an extended layout for Queensland Raceway will be ready to go from day one in 2027, but it won’t necessarily cater for top-level motorsport.
‘The Paperclip’ is being added to this summer, with Quinn having publicly hinted at works taking place in the vicinity of Turn 2.
Speaking to V8 Sleuth, the popular circuit owner provided some additional detail around the timeline and scope of the project.
“Really, it’s not for V8s or nationals, it’s for the local state guys,” he said.
“It takes the track from six corners to 11.
“The work starts in December. It will be ready by next year, like January 1, and it’s $1 million worth.”

There remains doubt as to whether the Repco Supercars Championship will race at Ipswich again in 2027, amid speculation the event could be replaced by Phillip Island – and that’s assuming negotiations between RACE and teams even allow for another 14-round schedule.
QR was absent from the Supercars calendar from 2020-24 before returning as the Sprint Cup decider for ’25 and ’26.
Quinn had voiced confidence in August that Supercars would be back, albeit declaring that the venue will be fine either way.
“I mean, I can’t think of a good enough reason why they wouldn’t be,” he said at the time.
“It’s a good event for them, it makes money for them.”
