Part of a giant cardboard model has fallen victim to a sea breeze.

The six-storey-high art installation, inspired by Weston-Super-Mare’s crumbling Birnbeck pier, was put up on Saturday by local people under the instruction of artist Olivier GrossetĂȘte.

The tower began to lean at about 07:00 BST on Sunday and a decision was made for safety reasons to topple some of it early, project leaders said.

The rest of the structure was dismantled at 15:00 as planned.
