Nathan Brown was a late withdrawal from the Sunday Footy Show’s grand final edition with a bout of gastro.

Fellow panellist Damian Barrett said he got a text at 5.48am saying that Brown wasn’t feeling too well.

“He’s got a form of gastro I believe,’’ Barrett said.

“He hasn’t had a sick day since I’ve known him.”

Barrett said he was worried about him and fellow panellists Matthew Lloyd and Rory Sloane offered their sympathies.

But Tony Jones was licking his lips at the prospect of roasting his mate’s absence.

“This is our grand final show and you would like to go in full strength,’’ he said

“I think he’s had (gastro) since he was told he wasn’t calling for Triple M on grand final day.”

Jones then read out Brown’s finals record and said “it’s not the first time you’ve gone missing in September”.

It didn’t draw too many laughs so Jones did qualify the sledge with “I wish you well” and “We love you Nath”.

It continues the banter between the two who each week butt heads.

Brown is due to be heading to the Northern Territory for the next eight days to take on the 170km Larapinta Trail with his wife Kristine.

“We want to show our kids there’s a bloody big world out there and there’s more to life than the comfortable stuff,’’ Brown said.

Maddern late out

Channel 7 host Rebecca Maddern was another who fell victim to illness in Grand Final Week.

She was absent from the traditional Grand Final eve lunch at Crown which she co-hosts with Hamish McLachlan, and couldn’t be there on Saturday for morning broadcast duties.

She was struck down by influenza just days after doing a stellar job co-hosting the Brownlow Medal with McLachlan.

G Flip cheers on the Pies

Fresh from rocking the G with Kylie Minogue, G Flip was at Collingwood’s AFLW match at Victoria Park on Sunday.

An avid Magpies fan, G Flip was accompanied by wife Chrishell Stause who flew in from LA for the big day.

She was wearing a Collingwood scarf and showing her true colours.

The couple was also spotted enjoying the post-match fun at September Club.
