Rising talents from top teams around the country will step onto the national stage for the first time when the Basketball Australia Under-14 Club Championships take over Perth.

One of the biggest weeks in the junior basketball calendar, the tournament returns to Willetton Basketball Stadium for the second consecutive year from September 26 to October 2.

Each state and territory will be represented after winning through qualifiers to make up the 48-team event, which serves as a launching pad to future national championships, the professional game and beyond.

For the fifth-straight year, KommunityTV will exclusively live stream every match of the championships.

MEET THE CONTENDERS

While 23 sides from the 2025 championships return to Willetton, more than half of this year’s 48-team draw is made up of fresh faces.

Four titles will be up for grabs for the contenders with the top level Championship and second tier Shield trophies on offer for both boys and girls.

Logan Thunder took out the Ken Watson Trophy as boys’ champions in 2025 and the Queensland powerhouse will return to defend its title.

The Thunder won the silver medal at the Queensland State Championships in July where Sunshine State rivals Ipswich Force took out gold.

Expect the two Queensland sides to be in the thick of the boys action.

Victoria’s Frankston Blues – winners of the 2026 National Junior Classic U14 Boys title – will be another side to watch, as will SA state champions South Adelaide Panthers and NSW Junior Premier League winners Sydney Comets.

Last year’s girls champions Cockburn Cougars won’t be returning to defend their Michele Timms Trophy, opening the door for a new winner in 2026.

WA will be well represented on home soil however with five girls teams in contention, including host club Willetton Tigers.

Victoria has an equal amount of girls representation – led by the likes of the Melbourne Tigers – and the dominant state will again be one to watch.

However, after finishing among the top clubs in their state-based competitions, all 48 sides cannot be discounted when they hit the hardwood later this month in Perth.
