People still have a chance to help choose a name for the new koala joey at Yanchep National Park.
You can visit the park and cast your vote at the McNess House Visitor Centre, choosing from Karla, an Aboriginal word meaning “fire”, Scout, Pembi or Ash.
Pembi would honour former Yanchep senior ranger John Wheeler, who hailed from Pemberton.
Ash is inspired by the koala’s scientific name, which translates to “ash-coloured pouched bear”.
The winning name will be announced after the spring school holidays.
