METAMORA, Ill. – Day one of the 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women’s Golf Championship saw a field of 48 golfers from eight member institutions battle through rainy conditions at Metamora Fields. With two rounds left to be played, teams will look to build on their opening-round performances as the championship continues Friday.
Nationally ranked No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan University leads through round one with a score of 12-over-par 296 while holding a five-stroke advantage over second-place Carthage College. Augustana College trails in third with a score of 35-over-par 319, while North Central College follows in fourth with a score of 38-over-par 322. Rounding out the round-one rankings are Millikin University (+45, 329), Carroll University (+49, 333), Wheaton College (+66, 350) and Elmhurst University (+82, 360).
The Titans’ and Firebirds’ advantages are fueled by having multiple players in the top five of the individual standings. Through round one, Illinois Wesleyan was led by current second-place golfer Natalie Ocheltree, who carded a 1-over-par 72. Also in the top five from Illinois Wesleyan are Grace Fagan in third (+2, 73) and Nora Cerroni (+4, 75), who is tied for fourth with Carthage’s Lexi Manteufel.
Ro Longden led Carthage with an outstanding performance, finishing even-par 71 through round one while carding a round-leading five birdies and adding eight pars. Longden spent the majority of the day multiple strokes under par, but finished even after a double bogey on the final hole.
Play continues tomorrow with just a single-stroke difference between first and second place in the individual standings, while teams look to catch up to the Titans’ early advantage through round one.
Round 2 out of 3 tees off tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
