Miley Cyrus has unfortunately delivered a spectacular flop, with her latest album Bass Persuades suffering one of the biggest chart drops in Billboard history.
The pop star’s tenth studio album dropped last month, and though it impressively debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart last week, the more recent ratings saw it fall a whopping 156 spots to land at 157.

The dramatic decline is one of the biggest for a number one-debuting album in history, surpassed only by Bon Jovi’s 2018 album This House isNot For Sale, which tumbled from first place in its opening week to 169th place in its second week.
Bass Persuades was briefly successful despite the recent fall, becoming Cyrus’ first album since 2013’s Bangerz to reach the top of the Billboard chart in its release week. If you recall, that was the controversial album that featured smash hits Wrecking Ball and We Can’t Stop.
Cyrus had similar success with her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation, which spawned one of the biggest songs of her career in Flowers and earned her a Grammy Award win.
The rollout of Bass Persuades featured a few notable moments, including the release of the music video for Let’s Get Married, which saw Cyrus strip down for some intimate scenes with her real-life fiance Maxx Morando.
Later, the album was subject to plagiarism claims when French pop star Amanda Lear – known for a string of electro-pop hits in the ‘80s – accused Cyrus of copying her track The Sphinx with the Bass Persuades song Red Lights.
“I’ve never been litigious,” Lear told AFP, adding that she had not threatened legal action. “I simply pointed out the situation by thanking Miley Cyrus and adding that I was flattered.”
Cyrus’ latest music era was kickstarted with a creative rebrand which saw her drop her famous surname from her stage name to go simply by the mononym Miley.
The change was visible on Cyrus’ social media handles and website, with her dad, fellow musician Billy Ray Cyrus, saying he “felt good” about the move and that it reminded him of acts like Cher, Elvis and Prince.
Cyrus and Morando got engaged last year, but have not yet spilled any details of their upcoming nuptials.
