The House of Alba traces its history back to the 15th century. The late Duchess was a descendent of James II of Scotland and his mistress Arabella Churchill and thought to have been one of the most titled aristocrats in the world. On her death in 2014, her title transferred to her eldest son, Carlos Fitz-James Stuart, 19th Duke of Alba, who was among the guests at his brother’s wedding over the weekend.

The Duke of Arjona, a former Olympic equestrian, arrived at the church alongside his daughter, Amina, whom he shares with former wife Genoveva Casanova. The groom looked like a fairytale prince in the uniform of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, which has become the traditional choice for grooms in the House of Alba. Indeed, his nephew Fernando Fitz-James Stuart, Duke of Huescar, wore the same uniform for his wedding, which took place eight years ago this week.

The bride arrived in a horse-drawn carriage with her father, a Lebanese businessman. She wore a spectacular gown designed by Navascués, featuring an elegant square neckline and dramatic veil that cascaded across the floor as she made her way inside the church. In a touching gesture to her future husband, Bárbara added a pair of Art Deco-inspired earrings he had previously gifted her.

Following the service, the couple departed as man and wife in the back of the horse-drawn carriage and continued their celebrations at Las Arroyuelas, the 1,480-hectare estate the Duke of Arjona inherited from his mother. It formed the perfect backdrop for the festivities.
