Adelaide Strikers are in the box seat to land Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf.
Rauf is understood to be closing in on a new Big Bash League deal after five seasons with Melbourne Stars.
The 32-year-old played 33 matches in green, collecting 20 wickets in his last season and standing as one of just 10 players to take a BBL hat-trick.
Several BBL clubs are searching for raw ball speed and Rauf is exactly that.
The Strikers are clearly targeting experience and international quality to bolster their list after two seasons without finals.
They have already signed former England captain Ben Stokes and New Zealander Mark Chapman.
Kiwi star Mitch Santner was also presented a strong offer by the Strikers but opted to remain on his national contract.
The Strikers lost Englishman Jamie Overton to the Stars but are shaping as one of this summer’s championship contenders.
Elsewhere, Victorian young gun Harry Hoekstra is gathering interest after a bright start to his state career.
Hoekstra, 20, claimed five wickets in his second List A match against NSW and led a Victorian revival on the opening day of the Sheffield Shield season.
The BBL season starts with the landmark opening match in Chennai on December 12 between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers.
