Former NRL star Rhys Wesser has had a charge he stalked a woman withdrawn by police.

The one-time premiership player for the Penrith Panthers was facing one charge of intimidation, but it was formally dismissed in a Sydney court on Thursday.

The Downing Centre Local Court was told that Mr Wesser, 47, had agreed without admissions to enter into a two-year apprehended violence order taken out by Kerry Anne Smith.

According to previous reports, police had alleged Mr Wesser intimidated a 53-year-old woman whom he was romantically linked to between January 23 and January 31 in Redfern, Sydney.

Judge Clare Farnan formally dismissed the charge against Mr Wesser who did not attend court.

Mr Wesser, whose try-scoring prowess earnt him the nickname “Rhys Lightning”, won a premiership with the Penrith Panthers in 2003 and represented Queensland in the State of Origin before finishing his career with Souths.
