Murray has left Erebus Motorsport to make an early arrival with PremiAir Racing ahead of the 2027 season.
As revealed by Speedcafe, Murray’s early move was facilitated by the early departure of Declan Fraser whose season comes to a premature end.
“Cooper has signed up with us for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, so it makes sense to have him on board now for the end of the current campaign,” said PremiAir owner Peter Xiberras.
“We’re thrilled to have him joining us.”
In his debut season, Murray finished 18th in the drivers’ championship with Erebus Motorsport in 2025.
His maiden campaign included a standout performance in the rain-hit Bathurst 1000, in which he claimed a career-best fourth place finish.
With three rounds remaining in his second season, Murray sits 18th in the drivers’ championship.
“I’m excited to be joining PremiAir Racing and getting started with the team at the Gold Coast, said Murray.
“With 2027 and 2028 locked in, these final three events give us a great opportunity to start working together and build towards next season.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the engineers and crew, understanding how the team operates and getting comfortable in the Camaro.
“It’s also great to continue within the GM Motorsport family.
“Thank you to Peter and Roland for the opportunity and their belief in me. I’m keen to get to work and make the most of these remaining rounds.”
It’s the second year straight that PremiAir has made an early move to depose one of its drivers.
In 2025, Richie Stanaway was dropped for the Sandown 500 and Adelaide Grand Final in favour of Jayden Ojeda.
