Malik Beasley is back in the NBA spotlight as a free agent.

The former Detroit Pistons guard has been fully cleared of any allegations following a federal investigation into alleged illegal gambling, making him once again an attractive target for teams seeking a high-level shooter.

Last season with Detroit, Beasley averaged 16.3 points per game while shooting 41.6% from three, cementing his status as one of the league’s most efficient perimeter scorers.

The New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers have both shown interest. The Knicks see Beasley as a way to add depth and three-point firepower to their backcourt, while Cleveland is looking for a veteran who can make an immediate offensive impact.

Financial constraints could complicate negotiations, as both teams are limited to minimum salary offers, whereas Beasley’s previous four-year deal with Minnesota was worth $60 million.
