Titans skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui is set for scans after suffering what is believed to be a lateral knee injury in his side’s dramatic loss to Wests Tigers.

Fa’asuamaleaui came off in the 24th minute of the match after earlier attempting to play on after twisting in a tackle and struggling to play the ball.

Further medical advice upon landing back on the Gold Coast will determine the severity of the injury, if any, before the Titans head to Auckland on Wednesday.

Coming into the match, the Tigers had a few concerns of their own, with coach Benji Marshall saying Alex Twal, Alex Seyfarth and Tony Sukkar had all been in hospital with the flu, but were able to play come game day.

In Sunday’s second game, Knights forward Brodie Jones was ruled out with an illness that swept through much of the squad, with coach Adam O’Brien saying he was hopeful it was only a 48-hour virus.

“The ones that got it first Thursday were ones that were sort of the best today,” O’Brien said.

“At the captain’s run, we had five guys turn up for the captain’s run, we had to quarantine the others, so I thought I’d rather have 12 not here than have … (it) the other way around and then they all turn up today no good.

“I’d like to think that we’ll hopefully get it out of the joint by the time we go down to Canberra.”

Captain Dane Gagai was fit to play, but was hampered by a cork to his thigh through the game, but remained on until full-time.

“It was just a cork to the outer thigh, more on the ITB (iliotibial band); every time carrying the ball, just get a knock, it’s just more of a pain thing more than anything,” Gagai said.

Earlier, on the back of losing Valentine Holmes for the remainder of the season the Dragons suffered another blow on Saturday night when young winger Sione Finau suffered a dislocated shoulder at Accor Stadium.

Fiinau injured his shoulder as he dived into the corner to score the try that drew the Dragons level with the Bulldogs with 25 minutes to play.

“They couldn’t get the shoulder back in on the field and he’s in a sling at the moment, so I wouldn’t think that’s a real good sign,” Dragons coach Shane Flanagan said post-match.

“He’ll have to have a scan so we’ll wait until Monday.”

Holmes, meanwhile, suffered a rotator cuff tear in his left shoulder against the Roosters in Round 19.

He will require rotator cuff repair surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Bulldogs second-rower Sitili Tupouniua suffered a hamstring injury in his return game against St George Illawarra at Accor Stadium.

Tupinouniua was a late inclusion in the Canterbury side to face the Dragons after 12 weeks on the sideline due to a five-match suspension followed by a hamstring injury sustained at training.

Later on Saturday night the Sea Eagles lost hooker Jake Simpkin late in the first half after he was deemed to have suffered a Category 1 head knock.

The Rabbitohs have been dealt another blow with Keaon Koloamatangi leaving the field at CommBank Stadium on Friday night with an ankle injury.

Koloamatangi has been Souths’ best forward this season and had again been strong against Penrith but his injury comes at the end of another tough week for Wayne Bennett’s men.

Star fullback Latrell Mitchell is set to miss at least a month after suffering a quad injury at training.

The superstar fullback was set to return from Blues Origin duty and line up for his 11th game of the season but he went down at training on Thursday and was ruled out of the clash against the Panthers.

Mitchell joins a long list of casualties at Redfern that includes playmaker Cody Walker, who experienced a setback in the final stages of his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for longer than initially expected.

The Rabbitohs said in an injury update that Walker would continue to work closely with the club’s medical team in coming weeks in a bid to return to the field.

However, prop Davvy Moale has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his injured wrist.

It is unclear whether Moale will be available for Cook Islands World Cup qualifying play-off against South Africa at the end of the NRL season.

Kiwis hooker Brandon Smith re-aggravated a previously repaired medial ligament during the Round 18 clash against the Sea Eagles which will sideline him for 2-3 weeks. Centre Campbell Graham is also nursing a back injury.

The Panthers had an injury concern of their own with star winger Brian To’o leaving the field with cramping to his troublesome hamstring and a knock to his knee.

“Brian can’t seem to get through a game at the moment without some kind of trauma but he should be OK,” coach Ivan Cleary said post-match.

“He’s just having one of those seasons.”

Cowboys winger Murray Taulagi was unable to finish the match against the Dolphins on Thursday night due to a hamstring injury while prop Thomas Mikaele suffered a MCL injury.

“Murray is a hamstring, he was pretty flat when I spoke to him, said it’s sore,” said coach Todd Payten post-match.

“Then Tom Mikaele’s done a medial ligament in his knee, so I don’t think either will be playing next week.”

Also on the injured list in Townsville are prop Jordan McLean (calf strain) and playmaker Jake Clifford (quad).

The Sharks suffered a blow ahead of their clash with the Roosters with centre Jesse Ramien ruled out the day before the game due to hamstring tightness and then lost back-rower Briton Nikora in the opening half after he failed a head injury assessment.

Nikora raced up to make a tackle on Roosters prop Naufahu Whyte and copped an accidental knee to the head.

The Roosters also lost a man to a failed HIA at Sharks Stadium when centre Billy Smith was unable to return after going off in the 21st minute.

Wests Tigers forward Samuela Fainu is facing a stint on the sidelines after succumbing to a knee injury suffered last weekend.

The young gun played through the issue in the Round 19 loss to the Warriors but he has been ruled out of Sunday’s clash with the Titans.

Fainu is one of a number of players set to sit out Round 20, with Roosters playmaker Hugo Savala suffering a wrist injury and Bulldogs back Bronson Xerri managing a minor groin issue that has hampered him for a number of weeks.

Eels back-rower Kitione Kautoga suffered a syndesmosis injury during the loss to the Panthers and will undergo surgery this week to have it repaired. He is facing eight weeks on the sidelines which could spell the end of his season.

Panthers star Liam Martin will sit out a second-straight week with a wrist injury suffered in the Origin decider, with Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo to be rested for their clash with South Sydney.

Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen’s return from calf tightness has been delayed by another week, with club officials hopeful he will return in Round 21.

The Dolphins’ push for a first ever finals berth has been dealt a blow with back-rower Kulikefu Finefuiaki fracturing his thumb in the loss to the Sharks.

Finefuiaki suffered the injury in the early stages of the clash at Sharks Stadium but stayed on the field to try and help his team grab a vital two points.

The 21-year-old will have surgery on his thumb and is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.

Fellow Dolphin Mark Nicholls will also miss the clash with the Cowboys as he has enters the NRL concussion protocols after failing a HIA against the Sharks.

The veteran prop will look to return in Round 22 against the Warriors after the Dolphins have a bye in Round 21.

Newcastle forward Dylan Lucas could be facing an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury in the loss to the Storm in Round 19.

The 25-year-old limped from the field midway through the second half and watched the final stages of the clash from the bench with his foot in a moon boot.

The are fears Lucas could miss the remainder of the season with a Lisfranc injury.

Warriors centre Rocco Berry is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks after dislocating his right shoulder in the Round 19 match against Wests Tigers at Go Media Stadium.

Berry was playing just his sixth game of the season after a tough run with injury and his second match back from an ongoing hamstring problem.

He’s expected to return in either Round 24 or 25.
