The factory Toyota squad released a social media video today offering detailed insight into the damage done by three crashes across the Bathurst weekend.
Ryan Wood’s car sustained two hits, the first coming during Friday morning practice when he clipped the inside wall at the Elbow before a 43G hit on the exit wall.
The car sat out the remainder of Friday’s action, including qualifying, and started the Great Race from the back of the grid.
It then copped another wall at Reid Park during the race, that one measuring 23G, which has required more repairs back at the factory in Melbourne during the short turnaround before the trek to the Gold Coast.
Despite two big hits, Wood will continue to race the same chassis in Surfers Paradise as he kicks off his Finals campaign.
The same can’t be said for Chaz Mostert who will move to WR029, a car originally built as a Mustang as used for the first six rounds last year, next weekend.
He had an identical crash to Wood’s practice effort in the closing stages of Sunday’s Bathurst epic, which prompted the sole – and race defining – safety car.
The chassis damage on Mostert’s original Supra chassis stretched back to the seat mounts, leading to a move to the spare for the Gold Coast.
