A trail bike rider has died following a collision with an SUV at a busy intersection.

The collision between the vehicle and the motorised off-road bike occurred at the crossroads of Pembroke Rd and Durham St in Minto in Sydney’s southwest about 8.50pm on Saturday.

The 20-year-old male rider was treated at the scene but couldn’t be saved.

His identity has not yet been formally confirmed.

The 25-year-old male SUV driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Pembroke Rd was closed in both directions following the collision.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
