Samsung’s first over-ear headphones (codename: H1) have received their first certification ahead of launch. Listed under model number SM-U700, the headphones are expected to launch as Galaxy Studio. They’ll likely compete with Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000X series.

Samsung’s over-ear headphones receive first regulatory certification

Samsung’s upcoming headphones have appeared on TÜV Rheinland under model number SM-U700. The listing identifies them as a Bluetooth headset and reveals a power input rating of 5V/1A (5W). The certificate sadly doesn’t reveal the battery capacity or expected playback time.

We previously uncovered several features while digging through app strings. These include head tracking, Conversation mode, dedicated noise controls, touch gestures, and automatic power-off settings. Samsung hasn’t confirmed these features, so it’s unclear which ones will reach the final product.

Samsung has also filed a trademark application for the Galaxy Studio name, adding weight to reports about its branding plans. Galaxy Studio is a fitting name for a premium pair of headphones. When Samsung plans to launch them, however, remains anyone’s guess.

Samsung has plenty of audio expertise

Samsung already has plenty of audio experience through HARMAN, which it acquired in 2017. Its portfolio includes JBL, AKG, and Harman Kardon. HARMAN also acquired Sound United in 2025, bringing Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, and Polk Audio into the fold.

That’s a lot of audio expertise under one roof. Samsung could put that experience to good use with its first over-ear headphones, especially if it gets Galaxy integration and software features right. But to take on Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000X series, it’ll still need to nail sound quality, noise cancellation, comfort, and battery life.

Having said that, this is an important milestone for Samsung’s first over-ear headphones, which could launch as Galaxy Studio. We expect them to appear on more regulatory certification platforms in the coming weeks and months, revealing more details along the way. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
