The New Zealander will be reunited with his former childhood bandmates for the performance, including his brother and two close friends.

The opportunity is part of a collaboration between the Racing Bulls driver and the American guitar manufacturer Taylor Guitars.

As part of the deal, Lawson has created his own signature acoustic guitar, the LL30 GS Mini Special Edition, which he will launch as part of his appearance at the team’s music event in Austin.

The custom instrument features a pink-to-white colour scheme, complete with pink dot bridge pins and Lawson’s racing number 30 displayed on the pickguard.

His signature cartoon logo, which also appears on his F1 helmet, has been engraved on the truss rod cover.

The guitar will be produced in limited numbers, with a pre-order waitlist available ahead of its planned release in the United States later this year.

It marks a particularly personal occasion for Lawson, who began playing guitar at six years old after being encouraged by his father, who performed in a band during his childhood.

“I feel very proud to be launching my partnership with Taylor Guitars at Garage Sessions,” Lawson said.

“Playing the guitar has been a big part of my life since I was young, as my Dad played in a band throughout my childhood.

“He encouraged my brother and I to play since we were six years old, so it feels like a full circle moment to be launching a custom LL30 GS Mini SE while performing with my brother and two friends who I grew up playing with.

“Music is a big part of my life, and I use it to clear my head during the season, so I’m really excited to perform at Garage Sessions where we can connect with fans outside of the track.

“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone there.”

The performance forms part of Racing Bulls’ Garage Session series, which brings music and entertainment into the team’s activities surrounding selected F1 race weekends.

The line-up will also feature Jonathan Capeci, Scoot Teasley, Jess Farren and Alison Nichols, with country music artist Drake Milligan, who headlined the inaugural F1 Grid Gig at last year’s United States Grand Prix, closing the evening.

Lawson heads into this weekend’s race at the Circuit of the Americas sitting ninth in the drivers’ championship following consecutive seventh-place finishes in Malaysia and Singapore.
