Hollywood actor-director Rebel Wilson has listed the Birchgrove cottage that she gives as her Sydney place of residence.

After the sale of the last of her five known Sydney properties, it is unclear where she and wife Ramona Agruma and their daughter Royce will stay on their next trip back home.

The cottage is being marketed by CobdenHayson, with Wilson again turning to her estate agent sister, Anna Wilson, to handle its marketing.

The Grove St listing comes with a $3.8m buyer’s guide, which sits within the band of the price estimates of various independent data providers.

The property was bought for $3.6m in 2022 through Wilson’s investment company, Camp Sugar Productions. Its purchase was speculated as a home for her mother, Sue Bownds, who continues to own elsewhere at Birchgrove.

The home is over 130 years old.

The freestanding four-bedroom cottage, which dates to the 1890s, sits on a 274sq m holding, just 300m from the waterfront at Snails Bay.

Behind its wide gabled frontage, its renovation has retained the home’s Victorian character, with high ceilings and Kauri timber floorboards.

There are contemporary interiors plus a upper-level skylit retreat.

The home is opposite Birchgrove Oval, which has its own connection to Wilson’s career. The Pitch Perfect actor used the oval as a location for her directorial debut, musical The Deb. Wilson has also been reducing her Los Angeles property over recent years with Wilson telling The Wall Street Journal that it was part of an effort to streamline her life.

Her current Sydney listing follows the sale of her Balmain penthouse in the former Lever Brothers soap factory conversion in September last year.

The apartment, also marketed by her sister, fetched $2.15m, after paying $1.88m off the plan in 2015.

Wilson’s most lucrative transaction came in 2022 when her three-level Louisa Rd, Birchgrove, riverfront sold for $9.5m.

She had paid $3.76m in 2015 before architect Paul O’Connor undertook an extensive redesign.

Wilson has been embroiled in court case, in which AI Film and the producers through various companies are suing Ms Wilson for breaching contracts by sabotaging and undermining the release of The Deb, which was Wilson’s directorial debut and a box-office flop, by publishing false and derogatory statements causing the company financial and reputational damage.

They are seeking damages and compensation from Ms Wilson that could potentially amount to millions of dollars. They argue AI Film would have recouped its investment on the 2024 film, which was filmed near Orange, NSW, if Ms Wilson had not repeatedly breached her contract.

It’s the second major court case Wilson has been involved in, this year.

Earlier in July, Wilson did not defame the young star of her directorial debut The Deb in a series of social media posts, the Federal Court ruled.

The Hollywood star was brought home to Australia for the defamation trial before Justice Elizabeth Raper, which concluded in May after two weeks of hearings.
