Dominican swingman David Jones-García stood out the most to Giorgos Bartzokas during this year’s NBA Summer League, which the coach followed closely in person.

Greek tactitian had been scouting Jones-García since winter but eventually chose to go with Saben Lee, who fits the point guard role better than the Dominican.

Jones-García is 23 years old, 1.98 meters tall, and possesses the athleticism, decisiveness with the ball, and scoring ability from mid and long range that Olympiacos’ coach values. However, the player wants to try his luck in the NBA, which complicates matters since there are reports he may secure a contract there this year.

Overall, in the Summer League, Jones-García averaged 21.3 points (shooting 51.6% from the field, 50% from three, and 90% from the free-throw line), 6.3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

That said, he lacks experience in the EuroLeague or any other top-level competition, having only played in the G League and Mexico, and remains untested under the pressure of elite competition.

Still, due to his strong attributes, he is one of the players Giorgos Bartzokas favors, and if he opts for a player with those characteristics, Jones-García will be the one targeted. That is, unless developments in the NBA intervene.

Of course, he is not the only player on the Greek coach’s list, as Olympiacos is exploring several options to fill the guard position and complete the roster.
