Prepare to return to the Wizarding World, as J.K. Rowling confirms a new Harry Potter book set for release in early 2027.
It’s an exciting time to be a Harry Potter fan, with HBO Max gearing up for a new live-action television adaptation. Season 1, which adapts The Sorcerer’s Stone, premieres on December 25, hopefully kicking off a new golden age for the franchise as it revisits J.K. Rowling’s original books with a keen eye for enhanced accuracy over the movies.
Now, the Wizarding World is expanding with a new book, set for release early next year. On January 5, 2027, Titan Books will release The Art of Harry Potter (Revised and Expanded). The new book is the tenth-anniversary edition of The Art of Harry Potter by Mark Sumerak, which originally hit shelves in 2017 and featured never-before-seen artwork from the film adaptations.
The revised and expanded edition of The Art of Harry Potter is a massive 394-page hardcover book that features much of the same artwork from the films. However, the new release will also include 32 extra pages of new content that wasn’t included in the original. These will most likely be related to the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, though it is possible that there will also be some content from HBO Max’s upcoming television series.
The Art of Harry Potter includes plenty of interesting artwork that should fascinate longtime fans of the franchise. This includes concept art, sketches, production paintings, and storyboards that were used to bring the films to life. Readers can see the progression of iconic settings like Hogwarts and the Weasley Home, as their early artwork slowly starts to resemble what appears in the completed movies. There are also sketches of memorable characters like Dobby the House Elf and Voldemort.
The Art of Harry Potter (Revised and Expanded) is currently available for pre-order on various retail sites. The artwork book is listed at £54.99, but is also available at a discounted price of £35.90 on certain websites, including Forbidden Planet. While not everyone may be as excited for HBO Max’s upcoming reboot, this new release gives even the most stoic Harry Potter fans a chance to jump back into their favorite franchise one more time before its reinvention.
The Art of Harry Potter (Revised and Expanded) will come out on January 5, 2027.
