DICK Johnson Racing has welcomed back George Commins in a trackside capacity, even if he won’t be operating in his normal role.

With Commins on the mend following a mountain biking stack that forced him to miss Bathurst, DJR committed to continuity with team manager Tom Moore again engineering the #17 Shell V-Power Racing Mustang this weekend on the Gold Coast.

Moore guided Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood to victory in the ‘1000 earlier this month, in what was the first race of Kostecki’s full-time career without Commins as his right-hand-man.

Kostecki/Commins have become a formidable combination across four seasons at Erebus Motorsport and now two at DJR.

Commins was spotted moving gingerly in the Supercars paddock earlier today at Surfers Paradise.

V8 Sleuth understands he is part of DJR’s performance personnel list for the weekend, providing engineering support for both Kostecki and rookie teammate Rylan Gray.

Friday Supercars action today is headlined by Qualifying for Race 31 from 4:05pm local (5:05pm AEDT).
